Just a few things....

Hello HCS-6 Families!

There are a few important things that I wanted to put out there before our upcoming meeting in 2 weeks (Tuesday, January 27, at the School Office. Start time is 1:00)....

The first thing, is that one of our field trips, scheduled for April, is to the birth place of Helen Keller in Tuscumbia, Alabama (more details on that at the meeting). We were hoping to combine that with an HCS-6 campout for that weekend up at Joe Wheeler State Park. However, we've never actually been there, so I was hoping that some of you had.

If that applies to you, would you mind shooting me (Gayle) an email at westiecrew6@gmail.com or leaving a comment beneath this post? Thanks so much!

Secondly, after speaking with several of you, we have been tossing around an idea for beginning a mentoring program within HCS-6. What that means, is that we would like a way to connect the newer homeschoolers with the more seasoned ones in order to offer guidance, advice, and all around support. The problem is that we have no brilliant ideas about how to pull that off logistically. SO, that's where we'd like for you to come in. Here are a couple of questions:

1. Would this be something that would interest you whether as a mentor or the....ummmm....ment-ee? ment-ed? Person Begging ForMercy? ;)

2. How would you think this would be best be offered? As a Mom'sNight Out? On an assignment basis (ex: Beulah is over Bertha, Petunia and Bessie)? Something else?

Inquiring minds need to know, so please shoot me an email, comment, or bring your suggestions to the meeting on the 27th.

Lastly, we are offering a semi-last minute opportunity for fellowship in the form of a Mom's Night Out this Friday, January 16. We will be meeting at Starbucks in Alabaster at 7 p.m. and we would love for you to join us! No need to RSVP because this is just a casual "come if you're able".

Thanks for all of your help and we look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks (if not sooner)!
